Journey to Teach Watson joined the district in 1981 to teach journalism and photography at Pearland High School. "I didn't really decide to become a teacher," she said. "My mother decided that if she was going to pay for my education that I needed to do teaching as a backup." Watson, who has a bachelor's degree in business and journalism from Sam Houston State University, continued to further her education during her career, earning a master's degree in humanities from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and a doctorate in educational leadership from University of Houston.
